How great is our God! and how little we are!

God told Abraham and Isaac and Jacob that their descendants would be as numerous as the grands of sand. Having spent a little time on the beach lately I can testify that there is a lot of sand on the seashore in Destin Florida. I did not attempt to undertake a counting expedition to determine exactly how many grains of sand there were (nor would I want to!). Yes there is a lot of sand on the seashores of the world. If all of those grains of sand represent one of the many souls that will live from the beginning to the end; not only are there many grains but each one is a tiny, minuscule part of the overall grand scheme of God. Yet despite the fact that we are so small and insignificant, God loves us. We do not merit in any way, shape, or form any of the attention God has given to each one of us. Jesus said that He knew each hair on our head! What lavish care God shows to us who are frail and whiny and grumbling and ungrateful and complaining and... But God so loved the world that He sent His only son that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life. The sand gets elevated to the heavens! How great is our God!
