Deep and Wide!

I can remember singing this song in Sunday School, "Deep and Wide, Deep and Wide..." Eventually we would begin to hum in place of the words. As a kid I thought it was great fun. Kids turn in to teenagers who turn in to young adults who turn in to married adults who turn in to whatever I am. Although I am older (not old mind you!), I am still the same kid who hummed, "Mmm and Mmm..." I can get so busy humming along that I do not take time to recognize the significance of what it is I am doing. Busy, busy bee. Buzz, buzz, buzz! But what is all the buzzing about? As a kid in Sunday School I sang about an eternal truth about Christ shedding His blood so I could be forgiven. But I just sang words! I might just as well have hummed all the time. I did not understand the significance of what I was singing. Now I can get so busy that I do not realize the significance of every moment. It is divinely appointed by God for a purpose. But silly me. I am too often like Jonah. Swimmin' with fishes. Ahoy Matey!
