Our Anniversary
In the span of a human life, 25 years is a huge chunk of time. A lot of things can happen in twenty-five years including: 7 different moves in 3 cities and two states, 15 different jobs, 3 career changes, moving churches, and, last but not least, 11 children! There have been many valleys and many more mountain top experiences! The more I reflect upon our beginning, I realize how big God is and how He has had His hand on us all along. There were so many little things that happened along the way that eventually led to our marriage. Any slight change and we might not have met at all or maybe not in the way that led to us being together as a couple. Now it all seems like a distant dream. We were both so young and naive. You were much more mature than I was but neither of us knew anything about true love or commitment. I do know that the first time I saw you, I thought you were the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. I also wondered why you were with the creep who was your "boyfriend!" Regardless, I was smitten.
Twenty-five years and what do we have to show? If you look at things from a monetary perspective, not much! We have always wondered how God managed to put two people together who spend money so freely. However, I would not trade all the money in the world for our time together. We have been blessed beyond measure with family, friends, experiences, and children. And it all started 25 years ago!
We are half way there! When we first talked of marriage, only one week after our first date, we said that we were making a 50 year commitment. We did not really know what we were saying but we did not want to go down the same road like others in our family. I said, "I do," and I made a commitment to you for "50 years." I have never regretted that moment, ever. If I could have written out our story for the last 25 years on the day of our marriage, I could not have done it as well as God has. I am truly the most blessed man on the earth! And have been since I met you! You are everything I ever wanted in a woman and so much more. You bless me, encourage me, challenge me, love me, and pu up with me. I could never express how grateful I am to you and God for the time we have had. I love you more now than the day we married. I will cherish the remainder of our time on earth together knowing it is only the beginning of an eternity with you!
Happy Anniversary my dearest Laura Mae!
