Just keep swimming...

I love the character Dory from the movie Little Nemo. She could be called an "airhead." But she keeps an optimistic outlook no matter what the circumstances may be. Her motto is, "Just keep swimming!" It was three weeks ago now that I was laid off. Three weeks later I am still swimming. Although I have no job. A detail I know God has not lost sight of. My family is blessed and lacking nothing. I have been able to serve and do things that I had not been able to do when I was gainfully employed. I know that God has a plan for all of this. Laura (my dearest wife) and I have had perfect peace. Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 11:7-8,"Nothing on earth is more beautiful than the morning sun. Even if you live to a ripe old age, you should try to enjoy each day..." Unfortunately, Solomon prescribed to the philosophy, "Eat and drink for tomorrow we die." Solomon did not see life in the perspective of eternity. He did not know Christ and the hope He give in this life and the life to come. Jesus said He came to give us abundant life. Our circumstances, regardless of how bleak they may be, do not change our position or place in Christ. Knowing that God has us in the palm of His hand we can, "Just keep swimming."
